Open your first position

This walkthrough takes you from an empty wallet to an open position.
To try it without real money, turn on Demo in the app header. Demo mode uses live prices with simulated funds, so every screen behaves the same way it does with a real wallet.
  1. Connect a wallet
    Open app.isometric.fi and choose Connect.
  2. Fund it on Base
Isometric runs on Base. You need two things in your wallet on Base:
    • USDC to pay for positions. The minimum position is $10.
    • A little ETH for network fees.
Most exchanges let you withdraw USDC and ETH straight to Base. If your funds sit on another network, bridge them to Base first.
  3. Pick a market
The market picker sits at the top of the trade page. Bitcoin is live at launch. Other markets are listed so you can see what is coming, but only live markets can be traded. See Markets.
  4. Set up the trade
    The ticket has four controls:
    • Long or Short. Long pays if the price settles above your target. Short pays if it settles below.
    • Term. 1, 3, 7, or 30 days.
    • Budget. The USDC to spend. The ticket shows the amount charged as You pay / max loss, and that is your maximum loss.
    • Leverage. 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, or 100x.
The quote below the controls updates as you change them. Direction, amount, term, and leverage explains what each one does to the trade.
  5. Read the quote
Before you confirm, check the six numbers on the ticket. The two that matter most:
    • Worthless at or below (or above, for a short). Settle on the wrong side of this price and you lose what you paid.
    • Profit above (or below). Settle past this price and you come out ahead.
The quote refreshes on its own, so it reflects the live price. Reading the quote walks through all six numbers with an example.
  6. Confirm
Press Confirm Long BTC or Confirm Short BTC. Your wallet asks you to approve USDC the first time, then to confirm the trade.
The position is open as soon as the transaction lands. You will see it in Portfolio.
  7. Wait for settlement
Nothing else is required from you. The position cannot be closed early and cannot be liquidated. At the settlement time shown on the ticket, one price decides the result.
If you win, the protocol sends USDC to your wallet. If it does not arrive, open Portfolio and press Claim. If you lose, there is nothing to do. See Payouts and claims.

What the button is telling you

The confirm button doubles as a status line. If it does not say Confirm, it says why:
Button textWhat it means
Insufficient USDCYour wallet holds less USDC than the amount you entered
Minimum $10The amount is under the minimum position
Not enough pool liquidityThe pool cannot back a position this size right now. Try a smaller amount
Exceeds current risk limitsThe pool cannot take this position within its limits, or the premium cannot cover what it must set aside. Try a different amount
Price safety check failedThe price feed or volatility sample is stale. New positions pause until it is
New positions are pausedThe market is paused. Existing positions still settle and pay out
This direction is at capacityToo many distinct positions are live in this direction. Try another term

Before you trade

  • Read Know the risks. It is short.
  • Understand that a position runs to settlement. There is no early exit.
  • Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose in full.
